Chris began his training in the martial arts in 1985. He first trained in the art of Wing Chun Do Gung Fu. He trained and became a certified instructor under the legendary James W. DeMile, one of Bruce Lee’s original students from Seattle, Washington.

Chris then began studying Jiu Jitsu and became a member of the United Stated Sport Jiu Jitsu Team, Team USA of the USSJA and ISJJA organizations. He was on the 1995 and 1996 teams, and in 1996 won the gold with the team as well as in the individual division. In 1997, he fought for the World Middleweight Full Contact title and brought home the belt.

As time went on, Chris opened numerous martial arts schools, became a specialist in teaching law enforcement, special response teams as well as developing several women’s self defense programs.

In September of 2004, Chris received his Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu from 6 time world champion Saulo Ribeiro.

Jay Reyome – Brown Belt

Jay began his BJJ training in 2003 with Saulo and Xande Ribeiro and Chris Blanke in Toledo.

Jay’s attitude, attention to detail and dedication make him an excellent instructor.

He teaches on Monday PM.

Kris Magers - Brown Belt

Kris’ ability to explain technique and present in a fun manner make him a great instructor.
Kris teaches on Friday nights.
He began his BJJ training under Saulo/Xande Ribeiro and Chris Blanke in January of 2002.

Judo Instruction – Mike Mulvaney

Mike began training in the martial arts in the early ‘70s. He was a student of John Osako, 7th degree black belt (dan), at the Detroit Judo Club and later, Anthony “Rich” Owed, 7th (dan), at the Toledo Judo Club. Mike is a former national competitor in Judo. Mike currently holds the rank of Nidan – second degree black belt. Mike has also studied Aikido from Jay Weik, 4th dan and is currently ranked Shodan – 1st degree black belt. Additionally, Mike spent several years studying JKA (Shotokan) Karate from Ray Whelan, 3rd dan. Mike teaches the Judo class from 6-7pm on Wednesday nights.



Kettlebell Instructors

Brent Insco

Brent began his passion for strength and conditioning eleven years ago while training in the Martial Arts and competing in High school athletics. Since then he has gone onto research and trained in Powerlifting, Strongman training, and Kettlebell training. In 2008, He began training under the tutelage of strength coach Todd Baden where he would learn Olympic lifting, and further his knowledge of Kettlebell training.

Accomplishments:
3 stripe Purple Belt under Saulo and Xande Ribeiro
1st degree Black belt in Karate (North American Alliance of Martial Arts)
IKFF Kettlebell Certified



John Bailey

John had a successful career in the commercial construction industry for almost twenty years after receiving a degree in architecture from Texas A&M University. After traveling and living throughout the U.S. family obligations have brought him to Toledo, Ohio.

John previously stumbled onto Crossfit while searching for means to increase fitness for his pursuit of the martial arts. He currently owns Rogue Fitness/Crossfit Toledo in Holland, OH and will soon be opening Rogue Fitness /Crossfit Gahanna in the Columbus, OH area. Go to roguetoledo.com for info.
